What paperwork do FAST Helicopters require before I can self fly hire?
We need to see your current flying licence for the aircraft type you wish to hire along with your flying log book. We also need to see your in date Class 1 or 2 medical certificate. These will need to be cross referenced with photographic identification (passport or driving licence). You will need to sign a self fly hire agreement form.
Do I need to do a flight test?
An initial self fly hire check flight is required for new customers, this can last up to one hour. Currency check flights are required for pilots who have not flown with us for a period of 28 days or more. A 6 month self fly hire check flight is carried out for all self fly hire customers even if they meet the 28 day requirement. An LPC test and subsequent pass with a flight examiner from FAST Helicopters may count as a self fly hire check flight.
Is there a minimum amount of time I must fly for?
Usually yes, however this depends on the nature of your flight, availability and the aircraft owner's stipulations. Contact us for details.
Can I take a helicopter away for several days?
Yes, although certain criteria have to be met such as minimum daily hours. Customers wishing to take an aircraft abroad or away for more than a day will need permission from FAST Helicopters prior to departure.
What about the weather?
As well as the aircraft manufacturer's limitations, FAST Helicopters have additional weather limitations relevent to the aircraft type and the hirer's experience levels. Contact us for details.
What about fuel?
Aircraft are normally hired at an hourly 'wet' rate (includes fuel). If you uplift fuel during your trip, keep the receipt and it will be reimbursed on your return.
Can I take friends, family or other passengers for a flight?
Yes, but you may not take remuneration for any flight. Commercial pilots/companies wishing to use our aircraft should contact us in the first instance.
