Helicopter Training / Type Ratings

Helicopter Type Ratings FAST Helicopters is a CAA approved Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO), which allows us to train pilots to fly other types of helicopter, from a small piston to a large twin-turbine.

Having gained your licence you will be limited to the type of helicopter you trained on. There may come a time when you will want to take more passengers or you require more speed or comfort. FAST Helicopters provide conversion courses onto a wide range of helicopter types.

The course requires a minimum of 5 hours flying (8 hours for your first twin rating) with an instructor on the new type, although this may also include the type-rating test. The time that you will require depends very much on the individual and their levels of experience.

Contact us for details of Type Conversions onto the following aircraft:-

The conversion course is designed to familiarise the pilot with the differences in aerodynamics, mechanics, technology, operation and performance, together with an understanding of the differences in emergency procedures.

The instructor will ensure that you are ready for your test and to fly the new type safely and with confidence. You will need to take a Licence Proficiency Check (LPC) test annually on each type that you fly with one of our examiners to maintain currency.
